Educational Background:    Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Business Administration, May 1982, Aquinas College, Grand Rapids, MI; Florida CPA and Pollutant Storage Systems Contractor.

 

Professional Experience:    In 1987, Susan Engle founded EnviroCare, Inc., an environmental consulting firm specializing in the marine industry assisting boaters, marinas and boatyards in meeting a multitude of complex environmental regulations.

 

She has devoted a considerable amount of her time to the marine community by serving on the Board of Directors and as President of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF), the Board of Directors for the Broward Alliance, Founder and Director of the Center for Environmental Education and Research Inc., and as a Council member appointed by the Governor to the Florida Boating Advisory Council.

 

In February 2001, she founded and was appointed Chairman of Florida’s Clean Boating Partnership, a unique public/private Partnership with the FDEP.  The Partnership’s mission is to develop, disseminate and educate boaters and marina and boatyard operators in environmental Best Management Practices.  The Partnership is funded by an EPA Grant and by the FDEP.

 

Unique Story: In 1996, Susan Engle founded The Center for Environmental Education and Research, Inc. (C.E.E.R.I.), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting boating, water safety and environmental awareness through an educational program called Boater 101 and a partnership with schools and the marine industry.  Boater 101 is a multimedia course creating interaction through the combination of text resources, video conferencing with potential interactive learning, presentations and instruction by marine professionals. This educational program is accredited by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and can be integrated into the school curriculum to encourage youth and community interest for the responsible and pleasurable use of our waterways.
